the irresistibly sweet blog award

As I mentioned last time, Maggie over at Maggie Madly Writing gave me the Irresistibly Sweet Blog award, which is very exciting indeed. There are four rules for this award:

1. Thank and link to the person who nominated you.
Thank you very much, Maggie. This was a complete surprise to me, I can tell you.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

Hmmm…

  1. I always write with fountain pens, from a company called Lamy.
  2. There are two characters in the story I’m writing now that I’ve been writing about for around forty years.
  3. I am a devoted fan of the CMOS (Chicago Manual of Style).
  4. I have never been west of Iowa or south of South Carolina.
  5. I try to walk at least a couple of miles every day.
  6. I was across the street from the World Trade Center on 9/11/01.
  7. I had my first library card when I was three years old.

3. Pass the award along to 15 deserving blog buddies.

Glad to.

  3. Theresa at Ink Stained
  4. Kristan at Kristan Hoffman
  5. Laura at Laura Stanfill

Thanks so much for picking my blog. I’m still not sure if I’d call my blog “incredibly sweet”…unless you mean sweet as in “that blog has a sweet ass.” Then maybe 🙂

  2. Kristan says:

Thanks so much, Anthony!! Hmm, 7 random facts…

    1. As a teen, I used to update my (hand-coded blog/website) with “25 lists” about once a month. That means 25 random facts every month! And now I can barely think of 7…

    2. I compulsively cut my fingernails. Thanks to piano I can’t stand them being long.

    3. I used to wish I was a witch. (As in, magical. Not warty and pointy-hat-wearing.)

    4. I love brie cheese.

    5. A LOT of my friends’ names begin with the letter A. It’s kinda weird.

    6. I used to love donuts and popcorn. Now I can barely stand either.

    7. Michael Fassbender is my Hollywood Boyfriend. (Lol, sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

  3. Thanks so much for the award–my very first! I’ve had a lot of fun looking at your list of recipients and picking my own. There are so many great bloggers out there!

Thanks, Anthony! It’s my first award too. So appreciate you thinking of me. 🙂

  5. Sonje, Kristan, Laura, and Bryna: It was well deserved. You’re all in my blogroll now, too (it’s in the sidebar on the front page of the site, which is longer than the sidebar for individual posts).

Kristan, here are some comments on your list (which is not part of the rules, but I felt like it):

    1. I used to hand code, too. Still do for some things. The biggest advantage of CMSs for me is that I get to choose from the huge number of themes that are out there, all of them designed by people who have a better sense of design than I do. But even with them I sometimes edit the code a bit.

    2. Me, too. Guitar, in my case, but it’s the same idea. I no longer play, but I kept the habit.

    3. I used to have a crush on Angelique from Dark Shadows (well, I guess that’s kind of different).

    4. Me, not so much.

    5. I used to be on a Tori Amos email list, and three of the main people on the list were named Beth (Beth, Bethany, Bethey). Now I’m friended with all of them on Facebook.

    6. Mmmm, donuts….

    What were we saying?

    7. So, I’m getting the idea that if you had a Free Pass List on your site like Sonje does, he’d be on it? Just a guess. 🙂
