s(ick)

I’ve been sick since Thursday night, so I’m not going to do one of my regular entries. In fact, I’m going to do a regular journal/blog entry (you know, like normal people do). It may be short, if my head starts to hurt. There may be a meme at the end (depending on how I feel).

(btw, I seem to remember that “meme” has another, much more interesting meaning than the usual one–usual in the journaling/blogging community–but I can’t remember exactly what it is. I think I read it in a comic book once, I’ll look into this and let you know.)

So, news item #1, I’m sick. Coughing, occasional sneezing, extreme exhaustion, haven’t been able to hold food down for 48 hours (which may relate to the exhaustion, you never know), muscle aches, occasional headaches. I’ll call my doctor tomorrow. I have a feeling he’ll say that I’m sick and that treatment is symptomatic and eventually I’ll get better (that’s what he usually says).

News item #2, I have been the victim of identity theft. Someone stole my information and opened a credit card, which they used to buy stuff and then didn’t pay for. I’ve received a bunch of stuff in the mail, both from the credit card company and from the credit bureaus, and none of it was what I expected. I thought I would fill out a form to list my legitimate credit cards, and then they could see if any other bogus ones were opened. But no, they want me to list the bogus ones. But I have no information about that. It’s confusing. I have to make some calls tomorrow (if my voice is up to it, see #1 above) and see what’s going on.

News item #3, New York City just had the worse snowstorm in its history. Something like 26 inches in Central Park. Needless to say, I haven’t been out.

News item #4: Saw Poco on Wednesday night (before I got sick) and it was wonderful. They’re a band that I liked back in the early 1970s, and then lost track of, but it turned out they’re still together, and (really) better than ever. Had a great time, bought a CD and had it signed by all four band members, and got to tell each one of them the one thing I most wanted to tell him.

Here’s the set list:

show

News Item #5: Saw Underworld: Evolution, and (since I am inexplicably a huge fan of the first movie) I loved it. Plus, the movie stopped in the middle for around a half hour due to some sort of technical glitch, so we all got passes to see a free movie. I probably would have used the pass to see it again this weekend, except for the flu-thing. And the blizzard. Saw it right down the block from where I saw Poco, too, oddly enough.

Okay, here’s the meme. I got this one from Bethany (though she didn’t tag me), and I’m doing this one rather than the one Elisha just did because Elisha’s one was much longer.

Each of these is supposed to be four things. I’m going to do however many I can (see #1 above).

Four jobs I’ve had:
Shipping/Production Manager for a small manufacturing firm.
DTP Op/Lead Op/Supe/QC Coordinator for a major financial firm.
(that’s all, sorry)

Four movies I can watch over and over:
Touch of Evil
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
Kill Bill (both parts)
Natural Born Killers

Four books I can read over and over:
Lord of Light (Roger Zelazny)
Any Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin mystery
Any Sarah Caudwell mystery
Lord of the Rings

Four places I’ve lived:
White Plains, New York
New York, New York
Brooklyn, New York
Long Island City, New York

Four TV shows I love:
The Prisoner
Dark Shadows
The Bob Newhart show (the first one)
Falcon Crest

Four places I’ve vacationed:
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Adirondack Mountains, New York
(hmmm, that’s all I can remember right now)

Four favorite places I’ve been in the world:
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
(I’ll have to think about this one)

Four of my favorite foods:
Swordfish
Sushi
(I’m sorry, can’t think about food right now)

Four sites I visit daily:
Bethany’s journal
Cyndi’s LiveJournal
doonesbury.com
poconut.com

Four places I would rather be right now:
in bed
on the starship enterprise (I’ll bet Dr. McCoy could fix this thing pretty quick, with one of those nifty no-needle injections)
mostly in bed, actually

Four bloggers I am tagging:
I don’t know four bloggers, and I can’t tag Bethany because I got this from her, so I’ll tag Cyndi and Elisha.
