a short post
There was a question about the new novel, so to make it clear, it is a sequel to U-town and picks up on a lot of the characters and plot threads from the end of that novel (though it also ties up some things and brings back some characters from A Sane Woman as well).
I’m pretty happy with the way it’s going so far. It’s really kicked into gear now, and I have most of the next couple of chapters written. The focus has become clear, who are the major characters and why, and how they relate to each other. As I said before, two of them became friends, which I hadn’t really planned on, but it made a lot of sense once I thought about it.
Also, to answer another question which came up: somewhere between A Sane Woman and U-town, T.C. and her entire menage moved to a different apartment. This is why, in the former novel, they live in the same building as Sam and Sarah, and in the latter novel they live in U-town (and Sam clearly doesn’t, based on his very brief appearance with Alex). The reason for T.C.’s move? Cheaper (or no) rent, of course. I’ll make this clearer when T.C. appears in the new novel. (I haven’t written anything with her, but Finch will appear in the next chapter, so she’s probably not far behind.)
I don’t seem to have a lot more to say right now, so I’ll give you the next chapter. It still needs a final proof, but it’s basically done. It’s called “On the Medical Team.” If you want to read it divided up into parts, as the other chapters have been, you can go here. If you’d like it all in one file (especially useful if you’re printing it out, I would think), you can get it here. That’s something I just thought of, since PHP is pulling the text from a single file, it’s easy to give the two options without having separate files.
