pretty excited here, me

I was going to post something today, some sort of thing I was writing or something, but that’s on hold because of this!

I intend to watch this at least once a day until the movie comes out, or at least until there’s a second trailer.

The scary thing is that for pretty much every frame in there I can tell you exactly who everybody is and what they’re doing.

that film does look pretty special. I am not familiar with the book (I’ve not read any of Pynchon’s work) but the atmosphere and the humour from the trailer is very attractive – intoxicating, in fact.

  2. Well, I’m the opposite, obviously (I’ve read everything except Against the Day, which is simply too freaking long and too devoid of humor). I’d be embarrassed to tell you how many times I’ve read IV (plus listened to the audio version).

The great thing about it (well, one of many) is that you can take it on whatever level(s) you want. If the movie is as genial and goofy as the trailer seems to indicate, that’s fine. If you want to mine down for the deeper stuff (political, social, emotional), it’s all there, too.

  3. Oh, and welcome back, by the way. Nice to see you in these parts again.

This actually looks like it’ll be really good. Plus, it has Owen Wilson in it! 🙂

  5. The casting in general looks good. Reese Witherspoon and Martin Short art particularly well suited to their roles.

    Very cool. 🙂
