I was publishing the chapters in monthly\r\ninstallments, in little chapbooks, but then I discovered BBSs\r\n(computer bulletin boards), and I wanted to post my writing\r\nthere.\r\n\r\n<P>But <I>A Sane Woman<\/I> didn't fit into that format, you had to read\r\nwhole chapters in order to get the right effect, and on BBSs (as\r\non the internet more recently) things worked better in smaller\r\ndoses.  So, I put <I>A Sane Woman<\/I> aside and started another project,\r\nwith no plan and no preconceptions.  A few sysops (the people who\r\nran the BBSs) gave me space to work.  I posted a lot of messages,\r\nand gradually it began to turn in a novel as well, a much longer\r\nand more complex one than <I>A Sane Woman<\/I> would have been.\r\n\r\n<P>But then the BBS scene was killed by the internet, and that\r\nproject fizzed out, too.\r\n\r\n<P>More recently, it started to bother me that neither book had\r\never been finished.  So, I went back and finished them, and\r\nposted them on the web. And I'm pretty happy with how they turned\r\nout.\r\n\r\n<P>One of the problems with writing for the web (unlike the BBSs\r\nand unlike paper), is that everything is always subject to\r\nrevision, nothing is ever finished.  So, I decided that I would\r\nfinish both books on my 50th birthday.  And here they are:\r\n\r\n<P><A HREF=\"http:\/\/text.u-town.com\/sane\"><I>A Sane Woman<\/I><\/A> is shorter.
