the honeymoon may be over

My initial preference for createspace.com (as opposed to lulu.com, blurb.com, or booksurge.com) may be diminishing, since it's now been 19 days since I uploaded my files and ordered my proof copy, and 8 days since I sent an email politely asking if there was a way I could track the (supposed) package.

No proof copy, and no reply to my query. I'll pursue that, but now I'm exploring lulu.com also. Unfortunately they have different page sizes, so I had to reformat the file to 6"x9". But that wasn't that difficult, and I uploaded the file and ordered a proof copy from them, too.

So, we'll see what happens next. One thing is that I'm sure I'm not the only person who saw the article. It was the #1 most emailed article on the New York Times website that day (that's the only reason I even noticed it), and it was actually an AP story, so it showed up in many other places as well. So, they may just be swamped. But there is a difference between createspace.com, where I have to wait over a week for a response to an email, compared to lulu.com, where I logged onto the website and was immediately chatting with someone who answered my questions.

So, we'll see where this goes next. Oh, and I've set up a new category (all of these posts are organized into categories) called publishing, so you can easily see all the posts which relate to this project (and process).

There are two more parts of The Hospital Murder Case posted here. The story started here.
