I am, in general, not prophetic.
However, I was talking with someone today, exchanging "what we did over the holidays" stories, and he said that on New Year's Eve he'd been to a "floating dance party."
After he had clarified that he meant "floating" as in "moving from place to place" (like a floating poker game), rather than "on a body of water," he explained it like this:
- A bunch of people decided to participate, so they all downloaded the same music playlist to their iPods or whatever,
- on New Year's Eve they all gathered at a prearranged street corner,
- they all put on their headphones,
- the person coordinating it counted down, so they all started their music at the exact same moment,
- then they all starfted dancing, spreading out across the East Village for the next three hours, dancing to music they they could all hear, but nobody else could.
As I say, I'm not usually prophetic, but this did sound rather familiar.
