Top Ten Things I Did on Christmas

10. Sleep

9. Watch “M*A*S*H” again (the movie, because Robert Altman’s death made me remember how long it’s been since I saw it, and how much the memory of it had been blurred by “that TV show,” as he called it)

8. Eat a very nice breakfast at a local coffee shop, marred only by a new waiter’s trouble with the exact ingredients which should go into a “tea with lemon”

7. Update the virus and spyware software on my laptop

6. Write some parts which will go into the new chapter, “A Journey in the Dark” (writing them on my desktop computer, since the laptop was getting updated, as detailed above, and reminding myself of why full-size keyboards are really better)

5. Loaf

4. Decide that reading 200 pages of Against the Day is quite enough, since it’s not really getting me excited (and there are still 800+ pages to go)

3. Read some of Mason & Dixon again, to remind me why I was so excited about Against the Day in the first place

2. Loaf (more)

1. Email a bunch of people I haven’t communicated with in far too long.
